The DLE role is a pre-SLE designation and designed by us as a teaching school. It follows similar models that have been developed in Plymouth. It is designed for outstanding teachers who are relatively new to having a responsibility or leadership role and / or have had limited opportunities at this stage of their career to work outside their own department or in other schools. The expectation is that DLE status is a two-year role, leading to SLE designation.
Applicants must have the support of their headteacher who agrees to release them to deliver outreach support. There is no set amount time; however we believe that a minimum commitment of 8 days an academic year is required to ensure that the programme has sufficient capacity.
DLEs will provide high quality support in other schools, which will be structured and evaluated through an agreed action plan. DLEs will agree to engage in ongoing training and development as well as a termly after school team meeting.
