We are looking for expressions of interest from member schools – secondary and primary - who would like to be part in our Closing the Gap – 2020 Challenge.
What’s involved? Participating schools would agree to collaborate to eliminate the gap in attainment and progress between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged pupils by 2020. As discussed at the recent Members’ Forum meeting (20th Sep), we are proposing that we focus on Year 4 and Year 9 in the first year and develop three-year plans for these cohorts. The shift to a clear, long term plan, rather than a series of short term interventions, means that a more holistic approach can be taken. We will be work closely with Jon Lunn, Performance specialist, to ensure that pupil progress across all schools is tracked.
Our next steps are as follows:
- Initial planning meeting with representatives from participating schools
- Present plan to Members’ Forum for approval – 15th Nov
- Submit Grant Application to EEF (up to £50K) – 9th Dec
If you would like to be involved please could you email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) with the name and email address of the representative from your school by Monday 17th October.
