Finding out about the Dartmoor TSA and the secondary level school direct training opportunities they can provide was a dream come true for me. I had been considering teacher training for a while but as a parent and mature student, I wanted a provider that would ensure more workplace stability during my training. It was important for me to establish close links with a specific school and really be part of the team, and learning community, from the start of the year. They meet these needs perfectly and six weeks prior to starting I already have a good idea of expected milestones and placement locations for the coming academic year.

I chose Dartmoor TSA for my route into teaching because they offered the exact pathway that I needed. As a very mature student, I was conscious of being out of school for a long time and I needed a way back in that would not only give me the classroom experience I needed but also the access to a taught University course. The Schools Direct @ Exeter PGCE offered by Dartmoor provided just the right balance. They were also local and meant I didn’t have to move and they offered a range of schools across primary, secondary and post-16. The Dartmoor TSA have a very progressive attitude to teacher training and a supportive introduction to the PGCE programme.

Feedback from a trainee who graduated in 2015
As a graduate of this training course, I can say with confidence that the support I received during my training has enabled me to become the reflective, resourceful and highly motivated practitioner that I am today. Working alongside the staff and students of Okehampton Primary School has offered me a wide range of opportunities from which I was able to gain valuable experience, skills and support that were essential to my developing practice. I can safely say that training as part of Okehampton Primary School’s dedicated and encouraging teaching team is a fantastic start to any teaching career.
