Craig Griffiths – Vice Principal of Okehampton College – has created a super document (see attached). It pulls together 40 online resources that could be used by families at home. It includes many of the platforms that are now free to use up to September and can be accessed by parents/carers without the need for school accounts.

A huge thanks to Craig for his work here and for his generosity in sharing.

Summer Conference 2019 | Reshaping Education through Research | 13th June 2019

2/25/2019

Dartmoor TSA and its Teaching Schools South West partners (ECTSA and SWTSA) are delighted to announce  our first Summer Conference: Reshaping Education through Research. This will be held on 13 June 2019, 9.30-3.00 at Exeter Racecourse. Please find below the Conference Flyer with Booking Link.

The aim of the conference is to examine the key role of research in education today and explore how school leaders can use the wealth of evidence now available to help reshape our schools for the decade ahead.

We have three high profile national speakers as keynotes:
Professor Daniel Muijs – Head of Research at Ofsted | Daniel’s focus on research is at the heart of the new Education Inspection Framework. Prior to his current role, Daniel was Professor of Education at the University of Southampton

Tom Bennett – Director of researchED| Tom Bennett founded researchED, a grass-roots organisation that raises research literacy in education. Since 2013 researchED has visited three continents. In 2015 he became the UK government’s school ‘Behaviour Czar’

Professor Becky Allen - Chaired the DfE's Teacher Workload Advisory Group. She is Chief Analyst and a co-founder of Teacher Tapp. Until 2018 she was Professor of Education at UCL Institution of Education. Her book on teacher careers called ‘The Teacher Gap’ was published last year.

There will be a wide range of workshops available – please see flyer – with new national and regional presenters being added in the coming weeks.

The conference is aimed at school leaders. We have secured sponsorship which enables us to price tickets at £50 for DTSA, ECTSA and SWTSA members.

We will be providing further information on keynote and workshop titles in the next month. It would be great to have as many Dartmoor TSA members represented at what we hope will be a super event.

DfE-funded CPD training available for early career teachers

2/7/2019

Accelerate is a brand-new professional development programme, tailor-made for teachers in the first five years of their career. It’s free for teachers from eligible schools; those that are Ofsted graded 3 or 4 and/or are in a DfE-identified ‘opportunity’ or ‘priority’ area.

Accelerate will provide teachers with the tools and support they need to fast-track their teaching skills and build their confidence. The programme has been specifically designed to improve pupil attainment and keep talented teachers within the profession.

The four-term programme, which aligns with the new Government Recruitment and Retention Strategy, and particularly The Early Career Framework, begins in the spring term 2019. Registration is currently well underway, and it is advisable to apply as soon as possible as spaces are limited and will be allocated on first-come-first-served basis after eligibility.

How does Accelerate work?

Accelerate delivers evidence-informed training that has been designed around what works and with the demands of a teaching timetable and the needs of the school in mind. The blended learning programme is delivered with maximum flexibility through a unique mix of online learning, expert instructional coaching, workshops and a local peer support network to minimise time away from the classroom. In addition, an in-school mentor will ensure that coaching and support is aligned with school priorities and culture.

The wider school community benefits from specialist training for existing or new mentors while school leaders will be able to access professional development in the use of research and evidence to improve teaching.

Accelerate is designed and managed by Education Development Trust in partnership with The Chartered College of Teaching. Find out more and register at https://accelerate-teaching.co.uk/

Applications close 31st March 2019.
