The programme is to give NQTs outstanding training and development, that builds effectively on their ITT year. Our expert trainers and facilitators aim to develop teachers’ skills and confidence to become outstanding teachers in the future.
Autumn: Expert Workshops
The programme starts in the October with a series of 3 in-depth workshops delivered by Specialist Leaders in Education (SLEs) from both the primary and secondary phases.
Three half-day workshops exploring Age Related Expectations for children in Year 2,4 and 6. Each workshop explores the relationship between assessment, planning and how to close gaps between different groups of pupils.
Three half-day workshops exploring the features of effective planning, marking and feedback and differentiation that lead to excellent progress for pupils.
Spring: OLEVI Improving Teacher Programme
In the Spring Term of the NQT year, delegates complete the accredited Improving Teacher Programme (ITP). Designed by OLEVI and facilitated by outstanding school leaders from primary and secondary schools, the ITP gives teachers a set of skills and strategies to reach the next teaching level. All sessions are hands-on and lead to follow up activities in the delegates’ schools.
The ITP provides improving teachers with in-depth coaching, tailored to a self-assessment of their teaching. The programme consists of 6 x 1/2 day facilitated sessions over a six-week period.
Summer: Visit an Outstanding School
After June half term, delegates will visit an outstanding secondary or primary school with a recent record of high performance. The visit will include learning walks, Q&A with Headteacher and e-resource pack from the school to take away.
DTSA Members: £400 for 1st delegate, £200 for 2nd, and £100 for 3rd. This includes course materials, lunch and refreshments. Non-DTSA: £550 per delegate.
