Plymouth Oracy Project (Torridge) | Sponsored by Devon County Council and DTSA
All primary schools in the Torridge area are invited to take part in the Plymouth Oracy Project in 2019-2020. This is a funded, year-long CPD programme that is supported by a range of high-quality resources. Delivered by Plymouth Teaching School Alliance, it builds on the outstanding success of The Plymouth Oracy Project in 2017-2018, which aimed to raise attainment for all pupils and narrow the gap for disadvantaged learners. The impact of The Plymouth Oracy Project in 2017-18 included:
Torridge, like Plymouth, has high levels of deprivation and in addition is a DfE Priority Area. We believe that the success of The Plymouth Oracy Project can be replicated in the rural / coastal areas of Torridge and have a similar impact.
Devon County Councils Education Service has agreed to fund the project costs (£12,000). Dartmoor TSA will manage the project for all schools in the project, in partnership with PTSA, at no charge (£5600). This enables us to provide the training and the resources free of charge to all primary schools in Torridge. Please note that schools will however need to fund cover costs.
- Disadvantaged Gap in EYFS: % achieving at least expected in C&L closed from -20% to -11.3%
- Disadvantaged Gap by end of KS2: % making expected progress in RWM closed from -11% to -1%
